On February 10, 2021 within the execution of the EU Erasmus+\u00a0Jean Monnet Module Project \u201cAn interdisciplinary approach to waste management study: implementing the EU practices\u201d\u00a0(621029-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE) at the Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University a workshop \u201cLinking economic growth and sustainable development: strategies, initiatives and activities on the international, EU and national level\u201d has been held.<\/p>\n

More than 130 participants (Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s students, researches, general public representatives) took part in its activities.<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s team members Prof. Tetiana Vitenko, Prof. Nataliia Marynenko, Prof. Iryna Kramar and an invited speaker \u2013 Prof. Anetta Zielinska form Wroclaw University of Economics (Wroclaw, Republic of Poland) have managed to successfully achieve the expected impact of the workshop activities on the target group.<\/p>\n

The questions discussed during the workshop were as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. What is \u201cgreen economy\u201d? Understanding economic growth and its relation to sustainable development (Prof. Iryna Kramar).<\/li>\n
  2. How does global environmental change affect poverty and how can the world decrease poverty and increase economic growth while achieving global sustainability? (Prof. Iryna Kramar).<\/li>\n
  3. How can the world economy and available technologies be used to foster sustainable development and waste management in particular? (Prof. Tetiana Vitenko).<\/li>\n
  4. Economic growth and sustainable development: on the example of different European countries (Prof. Nataliia Marynenko).<\/li>\n
  5. The closed-loop economy and its environmental aspects (Prof. Anetta Zielinska)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The workshop\u2019s participants understood the relation between economic growth in the country and sustainable development, got familiar with successful examples (European cases) of environmentally responsible businesses and impact it has on the country, gained theoretical knowledge and practical experience in economic-environmental-social field (on the example of European countries, Sweden in particular).<\/p>\n
